How PekanBewys handles data — website and Android application

About PekanBewys and contact

PekanBewys is an independent information service for pecan producers and is not SAPPA’s official website. For privacy questions, access, corrections or erasure requests, use our private contact and feedback form. Do not include passwords, ID numbers or confidential data in a message.

Information we process

  • Visits: hosting and security providers may process IP addresses and technical request information. Our counter uses a browser session identifier to estimate visits and page views.
  • Orchard data: locations, map boundaries, notes, photographs, scenarios and preferences that you enter may be stored on your device using browser storage.
  • Optional account: Supabase authentication processes your email address, and selected synced orchard data may be stored under your account.
  • PekanBot: questions you submit are processed by a Cloudflare Worker and potentially an AI service. Avoid unnecessary private farm information.
  • Feedback: the hosting provider processes your message and optional name or email for follow-up.
  • SAPPA proxy: if you explicitly choose direct sending, your signed PDF, name and email are transferred through a server function and email provider to SAPPA. The proxy is not published as a public PekanBewys contribution.

Purposes of processing

Information is used to provide and secure the website, operate selected tools, estimate traffic, answer PekanBot questions, receive feedback, and support optional account or proxy functionality. Most public content is accessible without signing in.

Device storage, location and Android WebView

The website uses localStorage and sessionStorage for optional orchard and session data. Clearing site data or uninstalling the app may erase local information. You can export data via My Account. Using weather or mapping tools may send coordinates to map and weather providers. The Android app displays the website through WebView and supports these web features where the device permits.

Service providers and disclosure

Netlify supplies hosting and forms, Cloudflare operates Worker/AI and visitor counting, Supabase powers optional accounts, and other providers supply mapping, weather or email delivery. Relevant data is transferred only as needed for the chosen feature. SAPPA independently receives proxy documents. Processing may occur outside South Africa. Providers may keep their own technical and security logs.

Retention, security and your choices

Local information remains on your device until removed, site data is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Downloaded backups remain under your control. Optional synced orchard data can be exported or deleted using My Account. Administrative records, provider logs, confirmation messages and email attachments may be retained by applicable providers for operations and security; no unverified fixed retention term is promised. Contact us about access, correction and additional deletion requests. No internet service is completely risk-free.

Children and updates

This service is intended for growers and professional users, not specifically children. This policy may change when services or features change. Last updated 24 October 2026.

Delete your account and associated data

You may request permanent deletion of your PekanBewys account and account-linked data even after uninstalling the Android app. This is separate from the self-service option to delete cloud orchard records only. Request full account deletion. We may verify ownership using your registered email; submitting a request is not instant deletion.
